THERAPIST & FORENSIC INTERVIEWER JOB LISTING

Each year, more than 300,000 children across the United States begin their path to healing through the compassionate care of Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs). Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center is proud to be one of Alabama’s 36 CACs, working daily to bring hope, healing, and justice to children and teens who have experienced the unimaginable. We are seeking a dedicated and mission-driven Therapist and Forensic Interviewer to join our team in this unique dual-role position. This individual will play a vital part in our mission to providing a safe, child-centered space where young survivors of abuse and neglect can begin their journey toward restoration.

As part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, this role offers the opportunity to make a life-changing difference by conducting trauma-informed forensic interviews and providing specialized, evidence-based mental health therapy to children and adolescents impacted by abuse. At Butterfly Bridge CAC, we work tirelessly to ensure that every child receives the care, support, and justice they deserve during the investigation, treatment, and prosecution phases of abuse cases.

About Butterfly Bridge CAC

Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center is a nationally accredited Children’s Advocacy Center through the National Children’s Alliance and state accredited through the Alabama Network of CACs, meeting the highest standards of care and best practices in the field of child abuse response. We proudly serve Alabama’s 19th Judicial Circuit—Autauga, Elmore, and Chilton counties—with offices located in Prattville, Clanton, and Wetumpka.

Our comprehensive, child-focused services include forensic interviews, family and victim advocacy, trauma-focused therapy, multidisciplinary team (MDT) coordination, prevention and outreach, and access to forensic medical evaluations. All services are provided at no cost to children and their families. Butterfly Bridge CAC is sustained by a diverse network of funding sources, including federal and state grants, private foundations, corporate sponsors, and generous community support.

More about the role

This dual-role position is vital to the mission of Butterfly Bridge CAC, combining clinical expertise with skilled forensic interviewing to support children through every stage of their healing journey. The Therapist and Forensic Interviewer works as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team to ensure children impacted by abuse receive the specialized, trauma-informed services they need in a safe and supportive environment.

Key responsibilities include providing individual and, at times, family-based trauma-focused therapy to children and adolescents; conducting neutral, fact-finding forensic interviews for children during investigations; collaborating with multidisciplinary team (MDT) members; maintaining thorough and confidential documentation; and participating in team meetings, trainings, and case reviews. This position also includes community engagement and support of the Center’s outreach and awareness efforts as needed.

On a Day-to-Day Basis, You Might...

• Provide therapy sessions using evidence-based, trauma-informed modalities like TF-CBT.

• Conduct forensic interviews of children in cases involving allegations of abuse, neglect, or witnessing violence.

• Coordinate with law enforcement, DHR, prosecutors, and medical professionals as part of the MDT response.

• Prepare case documentation, clinical notes, and reports.

• Participate in MDT case review meetings and offer clinical insight to support child well-being.

• Assist with court preparation for therapy clients

• Provide testimony in court in role of forensic interviewer.

• Engage in continuing education and professional development activities.

Skills and expertise we’re looking for

Ideally, we’re looking for a compassionate and mission-driven professional who brings a blend of clinical skill, curiosity, and commitment to providing high-quality care to children and families. You may be early in your career or bringing years of experience—either way, you believe in the power of healing relationships and collaborative systems.

We’d be excited to see many of the following in your background:

• A master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related mental health field (required)

• Eligibility for licensure in Alabama (LMSW, LGSW, ALC, LPC, LICSW, etc.)

• A foundational understanding of trauma and its impact on children, adolescents, and families

• Experience providing therapy to children and/or conducting assessments in a clinical or child welfare setting

• A heart for forensic interviewing or a willingness to be trained in nationally recognized protocols

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to listen deeply, speak with empathy, and document thoroughly

• A team-first mindset—comfortable collaborating with professionals across law enforcement, child protection, prosecution, and healthcare

• A sense of organization and ability to manage a flexible, fast-paced workload

• Cultural humility and a deep respect for the diverse experiences of children and families

• A desire to grow, learn, and contribute to a workplace grounded in hope, integrity, and resilience

• Ability to exercise good judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy

• Sound business ethics, including the protection of personal, proprietary, and confidential information
