COMMUNITY OUTREACH ADVOCATE JOB LISTING

Each year, more than 300,000 children across the United States begin their path to healing through the compassionate care of Children’s Advocacy Centers (CACs). Butterfly Bridge Children’s Advocacy Center is proud to be one of Alabama’s 36 CACs, working daily to bring hope, healing, and justice to children and adolescents who have experienced the unimaginable.

We are seeking a creative, mission-driven Community Outreach Advocate to join our team on a part-time basis (20 hours a week). This position plays a vital role in advancing Butterfly Bridge CAC’s Growing Safer Communities initiative by raising awareness, educating families, and fostering engagement across our three-county service area.

Through prevention content creation, targeted campaigns, and collaborative partnerships, the Community Outreach Advocate will help ensure trusted adults in every sector of the community are equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to protect children.

This role focuses on connecting with the community to foster a safer environment for children, developing prevention content and designing creative social media campaigns while working closely with our current staff member who manages and maintains Butterfly Bridge’s social media platforms. The advocate will also serve as a connector between

Butterfly Bridge and key community audiences—including schools, churches, civic groups, healthcare providers, and marginalized populations. As part of a passionate and collaborative team, this position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families across our service area.

More about the role

The Community Outreach Advocate will:

• Increase public knowledge of child abuse prevention through ongoing social media content, targeted messaging, and awareness campaigns.

• Lead Child Abuse Prevention Month efforts, including signature events such as the Pinwheel Garden Ceremony and Wear Blue Day.

• Develop and implement quarterly themed prevention initiatives tailored to specific audiences such as parents/caregivers, educators, childcare providers, faith leaders, civic groups, and healthcare providers.

• Foster partnerships with schools, churches, civic groups, and community organizations to ensure prevention education is inclusive, far-reaching, and accessible to all families, including rural and underserved populations.

• Coordinate and promote Darkness to Light: Stewards of Children® trainings across Autauga, Elmore, and Chilton Counties as a cornerstone of the outreach strategy.

• Provide digital toolkits and campaign materials partners can share within their own networks, expanding our collective reach.

• Recognize and highlight community partners through spotlights, collaborative events, and social media engagement.

Who this role engages

The Community Outreach Advocate will help Butterfly Bridge connect with:

• Parents & Caregivers – Equipping families with resources on protective factors, positive parenting, and how to recognize and respond to abuse.

• Educators & Childcare Providers – Providing prevention tools and Darkness to Light trainings to frontline professionals who protect children every day.

• Faith Leaders – Partnering with churches and ministries to integrate child protection into congregational life through initiatives such as Blue Sunday.

• Healthcare & Mental Health Providers – Sharing prevention resources in clinical settings and engaging providers in training opportunities to better support vulnerable families.

• Civic Groups, Local Businesses, & General Community Members – Building a culture of shared responsibility through events, campaigns, and training opportunities.

While children are not the direct recipients of this digital and outreach campaign, they remain the central beneficiaries. By equipping trusted adults with knowledge, response strategies, and awareness, the Growing Safer Communities initiative strengthens the safety net around every child.

Skills and expertise we’re looking for

We are seeking a passionate and community-minded professional with a blend of creativity and advocacy experience. We’d be excited to see many of the following in your background:
